Alan has a diverse background as both Chief Financial Officer for an international public commercial real estate firm, as well as President and Chief Investment Officer for a commercial investment fund. He has focused on investment real estate and consulting for high net worth clients exclusively for the past ten years.  Alan privately consults with individual high net worth and foreign national clients through RealtiTrust, LLC to meet their individualized real estate needs.

Most recently, he was the Managing Partner for The Furman Co.| Investment Advisory Services specializing in investment advisory consulting, asset management and portfolio repositioning and dispositioning with assets under management in excess of $250 million.  In 2008, Alan was a court appointed receiver for over $50 million in bank foreclosures and dispositions for Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and CertusBank.

In 2007, Alan was the facilitator and is currently the Managing Principal for the Carolina Center for Foreign Investment (CCFI), a USCIS and Homeland Security designated regional center.  CCFI was the first two state southeastern USCIS designated regional center for North Carolina and South Carolina. Since then, CCFI has successfully assisted foreign nationals to invest in commercial real estate and gain permanent US status utilizing the EB-5 program. CCFI's first principal investment in Proterra’s hydro-electric bus operations generated over 200 net new jobs in South Carolina.

Alan has spearheaded numerous consulting and strategic counseling assignments, working on large scale mixed-use master planning assignments as well as securitizations and bond issuances for public/private partnerships. He has worked directly with numerous institutional and international clients such as Lehman Bros, Legg Mason, ING, LendLease, MetLife, and Prudential. In addition, he has worked directly with high net worth individuals in an advisory role with deal structure, highest and best use analysis/implementation and acquisition, and disposition of both leasehold and fee title. Alan has consulted for clients on both corporate and debt restructures while securing $500+ million in equity and debt.

Alan received his undergraduate degree in Accounting & Finance with a minor emphasis in Economics from Furman University, Greenville, South Carolina. He has completed numerous certifications and symposiums through both Wharton and Harvard Business School. Moreover, he is a licensed broker-in-charge in South Carolina, North Carolina and a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). Alan is also a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) South Carolina Advisory Panel and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).

He has served on sundry community and trade boards and continues to maintain a leadership position with the Urban Land Institute (ULI) having served on the executive committee for the SC ULI whose mission is to provide leadership in the responsible use of land while creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide. He also is a founding member of the South Carolina Center for Sustainable Leadership.  In 2011, Alan was selected as one the “50 Most Influential” people in the City of Greenville, and received various Distinguished Service awards during his career.

Alan is currently the owner and principal of RealtiTrust, providing commercial real estate advisory and transaction services.  He is also the Managing Principal of the Carolina Center for Foreign Investment a designated regional center through USCIS and Homeland Security.
